is there a Serial-to-USB adapter?

Here at work, we are stuck with a SFF PC as our workstations. It does not have Serial / Parallel connections.

meanwhile, I wanted to install a thermal printer for our shipping needs.... and the cheapest one we found on ebay only has Serial connection....

I'm sure there are. Look here. You probably get more hits on Google using "RS232" rather than "serial".

I don't know how well these things work, but you might try these.
