Is there a Serial Number outside all the 9700 Pro boxes?!?

Went to go return a Radeon 9700 Pro I got from Best Buy, since all I play these days is Counter-Strike, and got some bs from the employees and manager saying that they couldn't take it back cause there HAS to be a SN sticker on the outside of the box to match the SN on the actual card. WTF?!? Is what they are saying true? I'm sure some of them don't have SN right? I bought this BRAND NEW from them so I know for a fact that there was never a SN on the actual box since I never took any sticker like that off.

Anyhow, I had to call corporate and have them talk to the sales manager just to convince this prick to give me store credit (He wouldn't even deal with me before corporate called). Now I gotta drive all the way back there and look that fool in the face again just to get my store credit. Sigh, I'm fuming right now.:disgust:

best just to give them hell right there in the store, don't back down when you know you are in the right.

but ya there is a sn on the barcode sticker, at lest there is on my box. bought it from best buy when they first came out.

Just for thought, my Radeon 9500 pro (original ati) retail box doesn't have a SN one the box. There are other numbers, but I can only guess it to be the PN.

If that store is giving you BS, you can try another best buy store. I believe you can return the product to any BB store

He showed me a box that had the SN on it. It's actually on the bottom of the box next to the ATI logo.

I think going to another store might work but if it doesn't that would probably waste another hour of my time. Sigh, I guess Store Credit isn't that bad since I constantly spend $ at BB.

The numbers on the box are not related to the pn or sn of my retail AIW 9700 pro, sounds like BS to me. LOL, have the CSR proove it to you with another boxed card of theirs.

Unless it was on the plastic wrapped on the outside of the BOX, the retail boxed card I purchased from BB also has no SER. # anywhere. Did the A$$hole @ BB show you the location of the SER. # on the box?

Yeah, they showed me a 9700 Pro that had the SN on the box that's why they said I had to have it also. I might not even return it now since I might just give the card to my little bro. I also think if I head back there, I might end up cussing people out, so it's probably for the best if I don't.

Best Buy is full of idiots.
