Is there a "Scooch Over" Feature in 3D Max ?

i'm learning Max and Flash (3D Studio Max 9 and Flash CS3).

one of the features of Flash that makes it work good is being
able to use right and left arrows to move objects around.
the engineering term would be "translate"

that might be a little more subject to interpretation in the
3D space of Max. but it would be very convenient.

for moving things "a little bit", between these 3 position controls -
* right-click to bring up move menu in Max
* left-click on arrow thing next to the rotate button, in Max
* right and left arrow in Flash to move selected objects up,
down, left, right

the Flash right arrow/ left arrow is the easiest, for editing a keyframes.
granted, it's a 2D program, but its ease-of-use makes me wonder if
Max might have a similar feature.

The the problem with 3D is that you have at minimum 6 directions and only 4 arrow keys, but maybe if you have the viewport set to top, left etc it might work? I haven't fiddled with MAX for quite a while.

There are a lot of built in shortcuts and you can make your own as well.

Also don't forget the position and their spinner wheels at the bottom of the window (alternatively pressing F12 brings up a position window)

close enough ! thanks.

Also another little hint, you can translate based on world cords or local coords too. Local coords are great for moving vertices/lines when the object isn't horitzonal or vertical.
