Is there a risk to clicking "OK" dialogue box ?

I was reading a message board using Chrome. Out of nowhere a full browser screen appears. It was the one about Adobe Flash player needing to be updated. It is interesting to note that in fine print at the bottom, the page did say it represents 3rd party software and is not affiliated with Adobe. Anyway, this page had a cllick box to "Install Update Now" and "Remind me later". Hovering over both of those, I could see they would direct to an unknown web site. On top of that, a dialogue box was displayed that stated something like "You must update your flash player" with on "OK" click box.

Without thinking, duh, I clicked OK, which appeared to just close that box. Then I just closed down the browser.

Could clicking that "OK" dialogue box infect my system with anything ? I haven't noticed any problems nor have I seen the Flash Update message again.

It's certainly possible. I would check to see if any extensions had been added or if any new programs are showing up in your installed programs.

I would also run a full scan with malwarebytes in safe mode.

I checked the Chrome extensions and only have Google Docs.

The list of installed programs didn't show anything suspect.

NEVER! Install a plugin from a site. This is how they install malware on your system. If you need to update flash go to adobe's site. http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

If you are using Firefox you can click the "check to see if your plugins are up to date" in the plugins tab when you click addons.

Now that you clicked that button I would scan your computer with Malwarebytes, Superantispyware and ADwcleaner. Throw in Herdprotect and detekt.
