Is there a reliable company that sells CPU/Mobo combos like Monarch did?

I liked how Monarch sold pretested and preassembled mobo/CPU combos for a decent price + a lot of free stuff like games. Is there another reliable company that does this since Monarch is dead?

If you don't live in California or Arizona (sales tax), Multiwave has always been very good in this market. I have used them several times, and a friend in Florida uses them regularly for custom builds for clients.

Their combos aren't assembled together, you just buy a CPU and mobo at the same time.

You may want to read this thread before ordering any combo. 😱

The rig I am using now had its CPU and mobo ordered as a combo from Monarch and I had no problems. The only reason I did it though was because it was fairly cheap and I got Far Cry and HL2 for free back when they were fairly new games.

Ummm, it isn't hard to put the cpu on the motherboard yourself? And, you really think any of that stuff was pretested? And it's bad to ship a motherboard & cpu with the hsf attached (yeah, something big & heavy attached by a clip being tossed around during transit), so you want to assemble it yourself anyways.

Well, Monarch WAS pretty reliable so I think it's safe to say that they did in fact test it. Also, I only bought it as a combo because it was only about $10 more than Newegg at the time and included a lot of free stuff. And it's true that it's not very good to ship it with the HSF attached, but mine came with no damage. Plus they limit it to only smaller HSFs, I actually ended up taking it off and installing a Zalman CNPS7000.

The main reason I'm wondering though is because my friend who has never built before wants to buy a combo because he's scared of screwing something up. He lives in another state, so I can't help him and he doesn't know anyone else who can.
