Is there a reason why 9700 prices are creeping up?

I've been thinking about getting one for the past month, but the prices seem to be going UP. I know why the prices aren't falling (no comp from Nvidia at this price point) but am I missing something as to why they would go up? Anyone have any idea when they'll drop to the $180 range?
 
Its one of the top 4 or so cards on the market.....dont expect to get it for cheap for while 🙂
 
I'd guess they just use all the R300 cores as they can (for 9700/9700Pro and 9700Pro AIW). Since they all use the same chip, and they don't push into any other markets, they might as well keep them going (the 9500Pro was in the lower end market and would have hurt 9600 sales, probably without as much profit, so they've stopped that).

There still seem to be 9700/9700Pro and 9700AIW's around so I guess they're keeping them going (for a bit at least). Especially as the availability of 9800's isn't 100% (9800Pro's seem to be more common).
