In my area it costs $1.71/month to NOT have your home # listed in the Yellow Pages.

but since all your info is easily found anyway because of the internet, is there any advantages in today's age to not have your # listed?

edit:
White pages, not yellow pages.

Q: Is there a reason to not have your phone # listed in the Yellow pages?
A: Not allow people to call from looking you up in the Yellow pages...

Do you mean the White Pages?

The yellow pages are for businesses....

In any case, don't spend the money-- instead, give them a fake name to use.

Why would a business not want to have their phone number listed?

for white, if you just moved there and haven't been published before, might get around the net searches on new unlisted number. if it's already been published and have same number, then the listing been already sold

pure speculation.

Yup, my parents have had their number unlisted for 20 years and they're not on any of the online sites.
