Other than it being a proprietary technology, is there any good reason that a 512MB Memory Stick Duo is significantly more expensive than 512 of a regular old SD Flash Memory?

That's the whole reason I asked. I want to get a PSP, but to do some of the truly cool stuff with them you need at least a 1gb stick, and to do the super cool stuff you need a 2gb stick which run around $370. Ouch!
