Is there a real reason why we(you) hate Canada?

I've been here for 8 years, I consider myself very americanized and there's one thing I still don't get. (although it's become increasingly hilarious to me every time The Simpsons, Robin Williams, Family Guy, movies make fun of Canada for no apparent reason)

Why do you make fun of Canada? IMO, you're all the same to me. It's not like making fun of Irish or British. It's just Canada. Is there like a historical reason behind this mockery?

It seems the same goes for Canada itself. My second year at US, I went upto to visit my aunt up at Toronto. I'm Korean you see, and I was introduced to many Canadian-Korean friends. They were real nice but they had a good session of making fun of me because I'm from US.

Obviously I didn't get it at all at that time, now I find that incident hilarious.. Canadian Koreans making fun of an American Korean...

Well?

At least for me it is all just "fun and games". Making fun of Canadians is like making fun of the "weird" uncle that every family has. We all love the guy but can't for the life of us understand him. :D

Based on the 3 immediate neffing answers above, I guess there are no real historical/economical/any legitmate reasons why we make fun of them.

I would consider it a friendly rivalry.

I rip Americans every chance I get, but I rarely mean it. :D

I am mad because they took so damn long to build an engine. Must be a different time schedule up there.

It's easy. Canada doesn't do sh|t. It's like the apathetic neighbor that just sits there.

actually i really have no idea. it's just fun. cuz it seems like they get riled up over it.

Actually the guys who build engines up in Ontario happen to attend the same conventions on "work place efficiency" that the gov't employees in Alabama attend :p

Actually the US Government was thinking of letting Alabama be it's own country but that idea was nixed because we were afraid they'd starve to0 death without assistance from the Feds:)

Skoorbie! You backstabber! :(

FYI, Ontario car manufacturing plants are consistently rated to be the most efficient and of the highest quality in North America.
