Is there a freeware program that will tell me how quickly I'm uplaoding and downloading that can just sit unobtrusively on the bottom right of my screen? I don't really know what to search for on download.com to find something like this. Anyone know anything? I'm sure there must be dozens of programs that do this. Needs to be freeware.

I always used NetStat Live as well, although it tended to crash whenever I tried to close it (not really a bad thing since both result in the same outcome ). Might as well take a look around AnalogX to see if he has anything else you'd like... I know I used his Proxy program for years.

Netlimiter 2 Monitor This is the coolest freeware bandwidth and data monitoring software IMHO. I have tried a few and this will show you your useage and any way you like. By application Up/down stream, it records total usage for all applications and you can display this to show what you have been using per hour/day/month/year and of course in real time.
The non-freeware Pro version gives you alot of added features like limiting bandwidth to applications etc.

I like it alot.

PS. If you download the free trial Pro version, it just becomes the free version once the trial expires.

Yahoo! Widget Engine has a widget called Bandwidth Graph. Position it anywhere you want on the desktop and it'll display your real time upload and download rates as well as total uploaded/downloaded since last restart. It's free. There may be similar widgets too I don't know.
