In Windows XP I just changed my background image to none, and it looked purple instead of that relaxing blue I expected. What can I use to help fix brightness, color, contrast, etc.?
Those options should be built into the menus in your lcd.Originally posted by: johnnytightlips

Obviously, because I took a screenshot of it.
The color on my CRT looked a lot more blue than this.

The screenshot will NOT reflect problems with the monitor. A white pixel has RGB values of 255,255,255 and a black pixel has values of 0,0,0. If you save an all white screenshot, windows saves a bunch of "255,255,255" values to a file. It has NO relation to what your monitor is displaying. You could stab a hole through the LCD so that it looked liked some kind of weird oily rainbow, and the files windows saved would look identical. If you pull the LCD cable off the computer completely and take a screenshot, it will look exactly the same as the one you showed us.
Your LCD is not messed up, you have selected a purple background color. Now, if you took the screenshot of what you saw as purple and we saw it as blue, you'd have a messed up display, however since EVERYONE using different monitors sees purple, it's not the display, unless you think everyone on AT has messed up displays that show blue as purple.

Links are generally blue if they haven't been visited, or purple if they have been.
