i know terminal services is an option (in 2k server and 2k3), but that port is blocked anyway, so that's not an option.

what i'd love is some sort of virtual console similar to virtual displays on linux desktops, that enable you to have separate workspaces (but to be able to work together at the same time).

is there software that functions that way?

I don't think it's possible with Windows unless you go the Terminal Services route.

I'm inclined to agree...I don't know how it would work if you were to run VMware on a windows box with another windows installation? That might be interesting...

I believe you can configure multiple VNC instances on a linux box. One instance for each user, and it runs on a different port...

this would be a windows box though. i'm using XP pro.

terminal services doesn't work this way for XP pro. :(
