Is there a point in having 4 GB of mem?

So is there really a point in having 4 GB of mem? Is there any advantages/disadvantages?

I think in future applications...MAYBE...but for now?? that's just overkill

Right now, it's pretty useless. Most boards will only recognize ~3.2g anyway, so it's definitely overkill 🙂

Not really.

Each application (in XP at least) is limmited to a max of 2GB. That means that unless you're using two really RAM intensive apps then just under half of it will be unused.

eh not so over kill for movie directors, my cousin has 4 gigs on his pc dont know what board it is said its from out of the country but its 4gigs, recognized as 4 gigs. and he runs like adobe premier, 3dsmax, while rendering stuff and blah blah whatever and he takes it to about 3 gigs used ram

QFT. There is indeed a need in some places for 4GB of memory. i just dont see the need of 128GB of memory in some of those server boards. Now that seems like overkill. Why even bother with a harddrive 😛
