Is there a plugin to allow wildcards in Windows Explorer?

I am constantly frustrated by not being able to filter down a directory listing in Windows Explorer like I can in DOS. It seems like others should be upset like I am, but I have not been able to find such a tool. Anyone know if it is possible to add wildcard support to Windows Explorer? (I am running XP).

Thanks,
Mike

Heh-heh. I don't get upset, I just adapt. 😉

How about opening a CMD prompt in the directory you wish to filter and just applying your filter through the DIR command?

Or, you can use the Windows Search feature to apply wild cards to show you all of the files that fit a filter within a given directory structure.

maybe im misundertanding the Q, but you can go view > files by type and scroll down; or, open you folder, click search and use the wildcard (*) in there - by default the search will be set to the folder youre in. Explorer window then only shows files that match your search/filter in the folder & subfolders. Only annoying thing about this though is it shows a list of all files in that folder AND all subfolders, rather than just that folder then apply same filter if you click on a subfolder icon...
