Is there a place which sells OEM stuff to the unwashed masses?

I ask, because I went through incredible hoops to get hold of a Toshiba SD-R2002 last year (laptop form factor DVD/CD-RW combo bare drive). They were (and still are I believe) OEM-only.

I'd like to equip my iBook with a laptop form factor Superdrive (DVD-RW/CD-RW) whenever it's available. Since it's likely to be manufacturered by Toshiba when it's introduced, the bare drive is also likely to be OEM-Only for a while I presume...

OEM stuff such as hard drives, video cards, CPUs, and other desktop high-volume computer parts are easy enough to come by(almost everyone from Newegg to Amazon sells them). However, with laptops, you're almost SOL. It just isn't an "eunthusist" market where anyone can hope to sell a decent amount of parts.
