Is there a phone better than Samsung Galaxy S5 for price?

For the guy in this thread that said why not pay more for the S6? Why the hell would I pay more money for something that is even MORE of an overkill phone than the S5 already is.

So the thing is, the S5 is a pretty good deal when you go Swappa (not an option here, I guess) or with one of those crazy clearance type things instead of buying from the carrier (and you still haven't explained what the carrier is, because that does matter).

There is no crazy S5 discount now, but there *is* one for the S6, new for $470:

This phone is not for the USA. Should work internationally. As long as it is ATT compatible.

I already received the phone and so be it. The S5 is more than enough to last 3 years at least. She changes phones about every 3 or 4 years unless it is broken or stolen.

If anything goes wrong with this phone within a year or less then I am getting the best motorola phone money can buy or even a S6 which should be cheaper by then.

Well, to be fair, you never mentioned in your initial post that the S5 is too much of a phone for this person. In fact, you emphasized in your OP that you wanted something at the S5 specs or better. That's actually the opposite of telling us that the S5 is overkill.

Also, you said that your budget is 'between $400 and $450', and I mentioned that the S6 has been around $420 out of pocket before and it should be down to around that point again soon (as of right now it's around $460 out of pocket with the deal that s44 posted). That's only an additional cost of $10-20 for you from your $450 max, or even a potential $20 less from your budget, with the right combination of deals, and you'll get the latest phone from this year instead of last year's, previous generation phone.

Note that I'm not still suggesting the S6 at this point for this person right now, but you can't really blame people for suggesting the S6 especially when all we had was the information in your OP.

Fair enough, I should of explained myself better. I apologize for that.

You guys were a big help and thank you all for the comments. I guessed I screwed up here because I could of got the S6 for a good price.

However, I am sure that the S5 MORE THAN MEETS her needs for a cell phone. It should last at least 2 or 3 years. By then, cheaper and better technology will be available.

If the phone really sucks and does not meet her needs then I will keep the phone (always need backup phones) and then make another thread asking for advice here...lol!

Yea. If you paid me $100 I wouldn't consider swapping my 1 year old S5 for a brand new S6. I'd start thinking about it at ~$250 :^D

To my knowledge, the only phones that are true world phones, supporting as many bands as possible, are the Iphone6 and the Nexus6. Everything else is at least missing a more than 1 or 2 bands.

I checked last week and it does have LTE bands for AT&T and T-Mobile, although just one or two, not all of them.

There are no true world phones. Even the iPhone 6 and Nexus 6 both have at least two models for specific parts of the world. As of now, no modems support all LTE bands needed to be a true world traveler.

The iphone6 and nexus6 are the closest to what we have So yes, they aren't "true" world phones, but they are as close as we can get right now

I'm on an Note 4 that I picked up for 350 -- which is about the most I will spend for a phone nowadays because we've hit a point of "good enough." Anything more is pretty much diminishing return at this point. -- Unless I see something truly revolutionary.
