Is there a noticeable difference between 1.5 GHz and 1.6 GHz?

im planning on getting a hp pavillion notebook series 1000 but it has a CPU of 1.5 GHz (Celeron M 370). Normally i wouldn't care so much, but my desktop computer right now has a CPU of 2.00 GHz, and it goes pretty damn slow. so im wondering whether i should have a hp pc custom built from scratch in order to get a CPU (Pentium M 725 or higher), or does increasing the GHz from 1.50 to 1.60 really matter all that much, i mean worth for an extra 50 bucks and a week of waiting?

i would also like to know the gigahertz of CPUs you guys use most often. please help me on this. thanks.

That's a mobile processor, it runs at a lower clock speed to conserver power, but has performance equal to a desktop processor ~1Ghz higher (unless this is different for Celerons).
So you're looking at about a 2.5Ghz equivalent. I'd go with a Pentium M though.

also, can you guys tell me which video card is better: the Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator 900 - Pentium or Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator 900 - Celeron ?

thanks for the replies, btw

same thing, they are both '900' parts. celerons are the pentiums(M's in this case) that didnt make it.

If you are talking about the same CPU from 1.5 to 1.6, I would say the performance is negligable in every way. You would never notice the difference. The 1.5 would use slightly less power and thus give a slightly longer battery life. I have not researched the Celeron Mobile CPU's, so I am not even sure if they are good on battery life or not. But the 1.5 will be your best bet, IMO.

Celeron-M's don't have all the power savings features of the pentium-m, and have half the cache. The 1.5-1.6 wouldn't make a huge differance if they were both pentium-m's, but since the 1.5 is a celeron-m it may make a noticable differance on performance, and also make a big differance on battery life, so I would go with the 1.6 pentium-m for sure. I have a 1.6ghz pentium-m running at 2.4ghz, and in gaming it's faster than my P4 @ 3.82ghz, and even slightly faster than my A64 x2 @ 2.475ghz although I haven't finished tweaking the A64 yet.
