Is there a noticable difference between PATA and SATA?

If you already have it, definitely no hard in using it. 🙂

What are the specs of your rig? For normal computer use, one probably wouldn't notice the difference. If you are inkling out all the performance you can get, then you might notice. It all depends upon all of your hardware, what you use your computer for, etc.
 
If you dont have a sata drive to use along with the pata drive, then no, you won't notice any difference 😛

Yes and no. SATA drives tend to be faster simply because they're usually designed with superior technology, but, #1, they're not *always* faster, and #2, when they are, it usually has nothing to do with the SATA interface.

As Blain mentioned, Raptors are the only drives on the market that take serious advantage of the SATA bandwidth.

Sure, the SATA cables are a lot smaller then the PATA cables. 😀

The hard drive specs determine the speed, not the interface. Current PATA is 133mb/s, SATA is 150 (or 300) Mb/s. No hard drive has even approached the PATA limit yet.
