is there a need to send a mass email to people when leaving a job?

I finished working on a project (was only there for 3 months so I wasn't that close to anyone anyway)

and ones that I do want to keep in touch with, I have their contact info... and they know my work email address and AIM SN if they ever need to get in touch with me.

I said my goodbyes face to face so is there a point to send an email to everyone at once?

doesn't hurt... don't think much bad can come out of it other than annoying a few ppl who don't care much about you

well.. the people I would be targeting this email to didn't know me that well. I was closer to my peers, not the managers or execs. Should I send an email (BCC email addresses) just targeted to the managers and execs?

But a few of my peers that I was close to, we have each other's AIM contact so we can stay in touch there if needed

For a more serious reply, we had an intern where I work there for about 3 months and no one outside of his department new him very well. But when he left he sent out an email to everyone thanking them for their kindness and understanding while he got used to everything, etc. He was just hired on about 7 months ago as an FTE. He left a good impression on people. Of course the email didn't do it all but it certainly helped. I remembered him only by his email.

EDIT: Just saw your reply. Do you have distribution groups? Send it to a distro for your builing/dept/whatever.

In your email, post a link to all your L&R threads and maybe one of the females that works there might feel sorry for you and hit ya up ;)

Wouldn't hurt to do it.
2 possibilities:
1) you won't ever see them again
2) they remember and hire you in the future

If you are going to write an email about it, might as well put more addresses in, marginal cost is close to zero.

You send it only to people you've interacted with more than once.

If you've already said bye in person you can always just write a quickie leaving your contact info if you want to try and network.

I'm not leaving the company, just a project so they have my work email address and AIM SNs.. is there anything more needed? That's why I don't see a point in emailing them when we already spoke in person even for a brief minute

3 months? No, you were just a damn low level consultant.

Send Linkedin invites to anyone that you want to keep contact with.

Sure go ahead and keep in contact with them. Look at the possibilities: You can join Quixtar and send mass emails to people to join your business. Talk about residual income and being your own boss.

But srsly, don't. you were there only 3 months. no one cares.

I'm sure the execs of this company will be happy to receive spam and let your hiring boss know. I'm also sure that your company will find it inappropriate.

The last job I left, I was there for a discontinuous year (2 summers of 3 months each). I actually met most of them at their offices before, and worked with/around them for at least a few days. Also, I spoke to them about business over the phone over the course of a few months and had them do shit for me.

On my last day, I wrote them all an e-mail at about 5pm (they left at 4:30pm), then got the hell out of there. Just said thanks for letting me check out their equipment...

Do NOT send a mass email to the whole company. People who don't know who you are don't want the fucking spam. I work for Schwab, a fairly large company, and anytime someone leaves that's been here for a long time they send out an email to the ENTIRE company. I don't give a fuck that you're leaving. Just get the fuck out.

For some reason people (attention whores) do this at my work. Even when taking a day off.
When I retire I am going to send out a mass email saying that I am going to go take a shit and that Joe Blow (whomever is my subordinate) is in charge while I am away from my desk.
