Is there a need for A virus scaner for Linux

I'm sure that someone will correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that there are very few, if any, viruses that run on Linux.

I believe that the primary concern of a Linux virus scanner is to clean any Windows viruses off of a linux machine before they are picked up by a Windows machine.
