is there a microsoft utility that tells whether currently installed programs will be compatible with win2k?

Im looking to upgrade to win2k from win98se. I was hoping there was such a utility to assist in the upgrade process. thx

During the install Win2K examines your current programs and hardware and displays a list of the programs and hardware it thinks will NOT be compatible with Win2K and gives you the chance to install the drivers for the devices. Hope this helps.

ye sthere is but i forgot what its called. its on the actual win2k cdrom, but again i forget where...do a find files for "hcl*"

edit..i just remembered that hcl is for hardware, i thinks its called checkupgrade or something....man i forget too many things..

From Microsoft:

Run the winnt32 /checkupgradeonly command from the cd.

or

Download the Windows 2000 Readyness Analyzer from here.

I think they've discontinued letting people download that readiness anilyzer (at least I couldn't find it at the microsoft site, both at the above link, and when I searched for it about a month ago), since they don't want people upgrading now, since they more likely than not will not upgrade to XP when it comes out :-(
