Is there a method that lets me play the line-in from one sound card on another?

here is the scenario:

two sound cards, A is the recording device, B is the playback device. Is there a program that lets me take the input from A and play it on B, without actually recording? All I need to do is to be able to hear on B the line-in from A.

TIA

I'm not sure about this, but in Windows can't you just set A as the preferred recording device and B as the preferred playback device?

What if you connected the line out on the first card to the line-in on the 2nd card?

second card's line-in doesn't work in the mode I'm running it in. that's the problem.

right now I just have a line running from each card and manually swap the connections... I guess it's not really that much trouble.
