I have a presentation on Wednesday to do in front of a class for 10 minutes. I think I have things down, but I know when it becomes time, I become nervous and forget lines, voice shaking, everything just goes wrong. So, any medication I can get to fix this?

Ask yourself what you are nervous about and then if its realy worth it to be nervous. 99% of the times you are nervous for no good reason at all. So you just have to look at it differently now

You should do what I do when I have to give a meeting report. I go to the podium, clear my throat, look the room over and say:

"You are all my bitches."

It's a great ice-breaker...

One good thing you can do that helps alot, never look anyone in the eye, just when you look at the crowd never focus on anyone.

Xanax (sp?) it works right away.
I took it for panic attacks once, and it made me feel very happy :D

Hah, but he probably won't remember anything about how he did at the presentation the next day. I was on it for a while and it wrecked my memory when I was.

Try this: The night before the presentation go out, get a little drunk and have some movie-style adventures - get into fights with groups of people. Get shot at by the cops. Accidently stumble into a drug dealer's den, get locked in a room and have to sneak out. These are just suggestions, think of something YOU would like to do.

After that, you'll have to confidence to do ANYTHING. Problem solved.

paxil has some nasty side effects. I took it once for about six months. It made it pretty hard to "finish" my marital responsibilities.

Talked to the Doc and switched to Zoloft and that side effect stopped right away. Zoloft's only side effect is if you miss a day, you get dizzy easily.

Xanax is the ideal drug for you, works fast (15-30 minutes) and doesn't last more than a couple hours.

However, I used to be deathly afraid of speaking, and I've found that I just had to endure the apprehension for a while, and now it's no big deal. Preparation, rehearsal, having a contingency plan (in case you're using powerpoint) and confidence is the key!

Booze...

But it has some other effects, so you might not want to use it! :0

you have to continue to give speeches in front of audiences to overcome nervousness.
start going to Toastmaster's meetings or take the Dale Carnegie course & just force yourself to do it.

what you can do in less than a week is give the speech in front of relatives, friends, etc.

when you stand up in front of the class it's a good idea to start with a joke.
some people think that visualizing the audience nude helps (seriously).
