The list must have new added words since a post and I cannot edit the original post.

It says there is forbidden censored words but does not highlight or say what words.

Actually, that's not so far-fetched. I was writing a post the other day about banned members including the name of Ultra-Quiet (it's actually spelled without the hyphen) and couldn't post. Took me a while to figure out what word was prohibited and I was more than a little surprised that it turned out to be a forum member's name that was a banned word.

Whiskey tango foxtrot?!?

This is getting pretty bad, we most certainly do need a list of all the censored words somewhere (at least all of those other than the obvious - f***, s***, etc.).

Be nice to also have the list pick up some of the variants that are being used by people that have poor command of the language

Yes, but a fine balance must be struck between picking up enough to make a difference, and between being a major "PITA." As an example of the latter, some boards pick up words such as "assume." Fusetalk's incompetence in terms of not telling you what it's complaining about (and sometimes deleting your post when you go back to try to fix it) would be utterly detestable when coupled with this flaw.

While typing this post and trying to find examples of what it might let through, it seems that they have made it a bit stricter... For example, I can't mention the name of the company Matsush[/b]ita without some difficulty.

THANKS! I was wondering why I couldn't edit my forsale thread. I had a Matsush[/b]ita dvd drive. Nice exploit by the way.

And can we not link to other sites or something now? Someone is trying to find some fans, and I tried to post to the exact page on frozencpu . com, but it says it's a censored word. It took me about 15 minutes to figure out that it was that link that was causing it.
Tas.

I will tell you that the word "f-pping" (with an 'a' or an '@') is censored, as long as you don't ask why I know this. ;)

Banning people from being able to use someone's nick is just bizzare.

Yep, like when "fsck" was banned.
I found this out when I tried to help some guy with some Linux problems, couldn't post and I took me forever to find out which word was disallowed.
