Is there a list of all US Android phones out there???

I am looking to see what Android options there are but there seem to be a pile of them. I see there is version 2.X of android so is that a must have? Are there issues? What Specs (CPU/Ram) do each phone have? Keyboard yes or no? that type stuff.

I've never seen one like that, is there a particular carrier you plan to use?

Most here have a pretty encyclopedic knowledge of what's out there, and there's only a few superphones.

Are you looking for a complete list of every Android phone out there?

Just current ones?
Specific carrier/frequency?

There are a ton of Android phones out there. I could probably make up a list but I'd need to know exactly what it is you are looking for

Looking at all as I use ATT now but would like to get one that could work T-mobile or others (unlock)
Will probable buy used/new no contract as my wife just got her Storm2 and does not have a contract.

Will check out the links, thanks all.

The 3G networks of ATT & TMobile are not compatable, you'll be stuck with Edge speeds if you use one on the other's network and paying for 3G speed...

With the current crop of smartphones, a slow data connection is a royal PITA, they're much more data intensive than even a year ago.

it depends on his market. I believe as long as he's in a 1900 area, he should be fine.

The only ones to consider:

HTC:
Evo (Sprint)
G2 (Tmo)

Motorola:
Droid X, Droid 2 (Verizon)

Samsung:
Galaxy S variants -- Vibrant (Tmo), Captivate (AT&T), Epic (Sprint), Fascinate (Verizon)

Only if he buys the Vibrant on T-mo and tries to use it on AT&T. No AT&T smartphones have the 1700 band T-mo uses for 3g, and the G2 doesn't have any AT&T band.

Edge is fine with me as I don't use the data part of the phone. Wi-Fi at home is more than enough to cover what little data I need.

I use my phone as more a PDA and some basic games to kill time on the metro.
I like blackberry but they are over priced IMO. There seems to be a lot of android phones much cheaper with similar specs or better then blackberrys. So that is why I am asking to see what the deals are with them, good and bad.

BlackBerry's are rock solid devices. Great quality both in reception and build. Not as customizable as Android and not as "finished" as iPhones.

Yea I bought my wife a Storm2 and its a solid phone and I have the old Curve now. But the current BB's cost a lot. Not iPhone crazy prices but still high, IMO.
The one thing I do like about BB is the software and support. Thats why I am looking into the android phones since they seem to have a good software support line and a fair amount of phones using it.

If you're looking at price, the biggest gsm bargain may be a hacked HD2. High-end hardware crippled by Win Mo 6.5, but install Android on it and it's unleashed. Used prices should be quite reasonable.

Basic hardware/software cutoff: make sure it does at least 2.1 (Eclair).

If you don't use much data, you might consider getting an Incredible or Droid 1 and activating on PagePlus (through a dealer!).

I have an original Droid on PagePlus and it is great. Functions beautifully, PP uses Verizons towers and network, and the plan I use is very reasonable. 1200 voice minutes and 1200 texts plus 50MB of data for $29.99 a month. Bring your own phone. Here is the dealer I use if you want to check PP out:

I have my son on the Powertext plan: 2000 texts a month for $10, no voice. I throw a $10 PIN on his phone every few months for voice calls.

Not trying to say you won't but once you get a real smartphone with tons of capabilities, you'll definitely be using it more as it's intended to be used out and about.
