Is there a link between testosterone and tattoos?

Besides some ovbious examples of bikers ect, and nerds wanting to get them to look tough....testosterone must indirectly make us want to write on our bodies....

I hate tattoos, and would never get one because I think they look ugly most of the time, and permanent is just a bit to long for me...but the other day after I was done working out and the hormones were pumping I could imagine myself getting a nice ring around my bicep, and thinking how "cool" it would look and I should maybe get one, while thinking WTH, i hate them....

then later on while i was cooking in my kitchen like 4 hours later i was like, WTF i hate tattoos, why the hell would i get one...that is so stupid...

then on friday my next workout afterwards I was back to it...thinking, wow just a little tattoo high up on my arm in a thin sort of jagged jet black would really be me....

then later and now I am like WTF!

I always usually just stick to what I want and f fashion and everyone else...I get what makes me happy...but when after any type of physcial exertion and a lot of testosterone is released in a man, it really fvcks with me on this i guess lol....I guess i should be happy that I do not go around trying to fix stuff or knock holes in the wall like tim allen on home improvement ;)

Think they are linked to estrogen too? I am a woman and I have 6. After the 1st one, they became quite addictive. But I am done. I would never get another one.

You're probably seeing what a tattoo can do to accentuate your body. You probably see other people with barbwires or whatever on their arms, and probably think it looks good on you.

I have some tattoos (arm and back), and i have cravings to get more all the time... but i won't, just because i know there's a fine line between tattoos looking good and looking like crap, and right now, it's good.

<edit> I've considered getting a tattoo or two before... depending on the tattoo design & location, it could look extremely good... or if chosen poorly, it could look terrible.

So getting a math tattoo makes you smart? Maybe I should get e=mc2 tattooed on my arm to make me look like a genius.

No, you wouldnt even reconize it as being math oriented. Most people think it is satanic. But people shouldnt generalize what kind of ink people get or the reasons to get it.Do you think I got a graph tattooed to be hip and trendy? I only get things inked that will mean something to me for my life.If you were a physicst why not get some physics ink...?

Its just about showing love.

ps.People that really "hate" tattoos and really want to let me know.Just come across as bitter and lacking in joy.But thats the same with any one who is overly concerned with others harmless behavior.

I'm as whimpy as they come and I have 4 tattoos. So I don't think there is a link.

Your first reply doesn't show you to be much different from those "who hate tatoos", but I guess you're just tired of people making jokes about people having tatoo's.

And no I don't care if you have a tatoo or not. It's not my business.

It has nothing to do with testosterone...it has to do with lack of character and the desire to jump on the "white trash" bandwagon. It is actually quite pathetic. The only people I respect that have tattoos are the ones who got them in the service many many years ago....you know, the old anchor tattoo or the like.

I can't believe someone would get a tattoo of a math graph. I mean, I'd rather not get a tattoo at all, even if I were a math buff. That's like me getting a big "AMD" tattoo, which is a complete NO-NO.

Look, when you have tattoos people feel the need to talk to you about them. Its either "Oh my god I love your tattoo do you have more can I touch it..whats it mean ...did it hurt..." or Its some older lady asking me why i did such a thing.I prolly had three old broads ask me that last week. The guys dont ask cause they got brains. Its like let me pay my bill, or get my to-go order or whatever it is I am doing without grilling me about my ink and telling me they are "yucky".I actually had a server at a deli tell me that.I asked for the manager told him what happened and walked.Look I go to school I work I pay my bills I am a totally productive member of society.cut me some slack.

How about a UPC code on the forehead?
