you want a mechanical keyboard, be warned they are premium prices!!! I think I saw corsairs top board was $260, I got a brand new Razer with an opened box very cheap. If you look around and have time, you'll find a nice priced one. You may find one that is not mechanical as well, of course if you have a Best Buy near you it helps.
PS Do Not buy a Microsoft keyboard what ever you do.................

If you are going to buy a mechanical keyboard, realize that they come with different key types that have very different feels to them, which is why people like them. Research MX cherry switches and understand the differences between Red, Brown and Blue switches, then go try them to understand how you want your keyboard to feel. Then look at the manufactuerers offerings with those keys focusing on the shape of he key tops, backlighting options if you want, etc

expect to pay $100-$200 for a decent unit, though you can find some refurbished models and open box models FTTT.

I'm shopping myself, if I can ever find the time to go test drive the different flavors.

Something like this switch tester would be a pretty good investment if you have no idea what you're getting into and don't have any way to sample the different types of keys. (Yes, it's fifteen dollars, but arguably if you can't afford to buy multiple $150 keyboards to compare them, it's best to do your due diligence up-front like this.)

A good keyboard will probably cost you at least $100, but considering that's how you interact most with your computer, it's worth it.
