Is there a huge difference between a 3.06 and 3ghz chip?

I am planning on getting a Dell with the 3.06ghz and I want to know if there is a big difference from a non benchmark point of view...

i think the diff. is that the 3.06 only has a 533mhz FSB while the 3.0 has the 800mhz FSB

Well, the 3.06 has a 533 bus and the 3.0C has an 800mhz bus, so that should be a decent boost for the 3.0.

I would also think the 3.0 is a Prescott.

If its a 3.0E, then yes it is a PresHott... but there are 3.0Cs which are Northwoods
I think all new Dells with 3.0 are Prescott. They dont list things like C or E. They may list 1 Meg cache.

3.0C (Northwood) is faster than a 3.06 (Northwood but 533FSB) or a 3.0E (Prescott) even though it has less cache.

no, there is very little difference

in fact, if someone was to choose which system had the 3.06 and which had the 3.0, without benchmark and all else being equal, they would be wrong half the time

Very little diffference in the two. The FSB difference is negilible at best.
