is there a good place to buy lightbulbs online? I just got a house and need to replace a ton of lightbulbs. would like to get some nice high quality CFL's if possible. there are tons of different sizes, shapes and wattages that lowes doesn't carry.

Whenever i walk into lowes, HD or w/e i feel like lightbulbs are overpriced, especially the R20 and other type of floodlamps i need for some recessed lighting fixtures that are in my house. I thought there would be something like a monoprice but for lightbulbs.

Shipping hazard dude, just head out to your local store or sam's club and buy several. Some stores apply mass quantity discounts. I suggest you visit either home depot or lowes, or even a local store rather than a big multi national retailer.

I hate these CFL bulbs. We bought alot of them for our home, and put them into the light fixtures that have tons of bulbs in them, as well as other places but. A few years later a bulb here and there goes out, but they dont have the same kelvin any more.....

The bulbs I have are 5k, but they now only sell 5.5k and the light output is slightly less. Granted you cant really tell unless you look at the light fixture, its annoying.

hell, i get all my batteries online at zbattery.com and they are something i can get down the street too, but i'd be paying alot more for it. I didnt expect to get questioned for asking the question 🙂

1000bulbs.com. but I only use that site when I can't find something at the local Home Depot/Lowes/Costco/etc. Like when I needed 20 watt GU10 bulbs

My CFLs from them:
23W Neolites
85W craziness 🙂

The Neolites have distinguished themselves from the competition by not dying in the first few months of use. Too many generics seem to die very quickly, regardless of how frequently they're power-cycled. And they have only 1mg mercury.

My preference is for the 2700K-3000K CFLs - they look just like incandescent bulbs. 5000-5500K seems a bit too blue.
And in terms of color quality, check the CRI, which is independent of the light's color temperature. Higher CRI is better. I'd say to look for 80 at the lowest.

Don't know about CFL bulbs, but I saved a ton on some hard-to-find incandescent bulbs I use.
