Is there a good pain killer than makes one less nauseated than Vicodin

I just got surgery and am not sure what is worse - the horrible pain or the Vicodin induced nausea.

Any good painkillers I should ask my doctor for tomorrow that will not make me feel like sh!t?

I cannot believe people take this stuff recreationally.

Well, I don;t care if it makes you feel bad, as long it reduces the pain then its doing its job... Granted you could ask your doc and hopefully he/she will give you something that's less crappy. My mom is a RN and she always tells me pick one "Pain or feeling sick?" Either one will be present.

I'll give it a try it a little bit but I feel like being awake for a few hours today ;)

I know exactly what you mean with the nausea, I got morphine tabs and percocets when I was released form the hospital. My good friend sensimilla made short order of the nausea :)

my body seems to be getting used to it and every subsequent dosing is getting a little better.

that and the pain has improved enough that i'm only taking 1 pill down from 2 pills every 4-hours.

It still pisses me off how they put so much tylenol in this vicodin. It is really not healthy to be taking more than a couple of grams of tylenol a day (althogh they say 4 grams is the upper limit there is a lot of debate in the medical community about that).

My oral surgeon gave me some anti nausea medication to take with the Vicodin when I had my wisdom teeth shattered out - see if you can get something similar. Actually I dont know if it would have been effective ( diddnt need the painkillers after all ).

i was a wussy when i had surgery but i got tylinol with codine and that was all i could take. I totally agree with the vicodin. the dentist gave that to me for my abcessed tooth and it was too strong.

The one thing that helped me stay feeling ok and not sick to my stomach was ALWAYS keeping something small in me. Take some crackers, jello, pudding, rice just SOMETHING before you take your meds and it will help.

Any form of hydrocodeine for the win, also, check out the numbers on your prescription. There's an AP number or something. The higher that is, the stronger the medicine is. Maybe you only needed 1 pill from the start?

APAP + codeine = vicodin?

500mg APAP + 5mg hydrocodone = Vicodin
750mg APAP + 7.5mg hydrocodone = Vicodin ES

Hydrocodone != codeine
Hydrocodone is based off of codeine, but I know it's somewhat different. I'm not a pharmacist, and it's been a long time since I used to work as a pharmacy tech, so I don't remember the differences.

I had that problem when I got stitches in my mouth.

Just eat as much as you can (or in my case drink a gallon of ovaltine) and take it. I only took two because I didn't like the way they made me feel.

When I got a toenail removed, I got oxycodone. That didn't hurt my stomach, but it made me freaking high. I was all laid back and super-friendly. That was scary.

there's a drug really similar to vicodin called Norco...
325mg APAP + 10.0mg hydrocodone

less of the acetaminophen that upsets your stomach, ask your doc. about it, might be exactly what you need
