My son (5yr old) is into sonic now and I was considering the sonic collection. I think he'll have trouble with the regular controller, is there a mini one?

I never had problems using standard controllers when I was a kid, but the PS3 controller is a bit different from NES / SNES...

The classic Sonic games won't require you to wrap your hands around the controller. The games work with one button and it didn't even matter which one you pressed on the original Genesis (A, B, or C). You could even play on Genesis with an Atari 2600 joystick connected.

The only smaller controller I can think of is not wireless and I don't know how much smaller it is. They also said it has a bit of lag to the response. I find the regular PS3 controller fairly small and probably fine for most average sized children. My friend's 6 year old plays on an Xbox 360 controller and it's much larger.
