I'd like to be able to clone/image a drive to either a replacement drive or larger drive is there a hardware version I could use instead of Norton ghost the requires the Archaic floppy disk....?

Hardware cloning is not going to be cheap. If you can find an old CSC Pro duplicator for cheap, that may be a way to go, but still around 150+. Others cost 1000+ You can do it cheaper with a floppy drive.

SystemRescueCD. it's free and boots from a CD. here's how to use it.

alternatively, you can use the free software provided by the manufacturer of your HD. the software is available for download at the manufacturer's website.

I like Acronis Products. Acronis Migrate Easy 7.0 $40 It will also handle partitions and resize them appropriately. They have very good disc management and backup applications also. The manual says you can make either a bootable floppy or a bootable CD. You can download a fully working trial version that will work for 15 days.

Put you ghost boot or MiniPe image on a USB stick. Boots nice and fast. Might even hold your ghost image too if you have a good sized stick.
