Going to put my hard earned cash down on a new system (see details below) and I am quite sold on an nVidia-based video card. The question is "is there a GF3 Ti200 video card out there you would NOT recomend?

I plan on using Windows XP home edition:

AMD Athlon XP 1800 CPU
Abit KR7A Raid MOBO
512 DDR PC 2100 RAM
GeForce GP3 TI 200 64 MB VID CARD AGP
Matrox G450 64MB Dual head PCI VID CARD
ATI tv Wonder PCI
Turtle Beach Santa Cruz Sound card
2 X WESTERN 60 GB 7200 HD
LITE-ON 24X CD-RW
LG DVD 16X om

Thanks for the input guys.

Avoid cheapo no-name brands and stick with the likes of Gainward, Leadtek (my choice) and Visiontek.

Yeah any one that does not overclock well and has horrible 2d quality. Heh, seriously though; they're all pretty similar. My friend and I both have the MSI GF3 Ti200 and my roommate has a different one (he's not sure the company; his card is red and ours are green). Anyways, I'm very pleased with my MSI (and my friend is too ... lucky bastard his card does 240/550 without breaking a sweat! Mine goes to 225/500 easy, 520 memory works fine too). I've heard very good things about the Gainward cards, the Leadtek ones look ok and I heard the Visiontek ones are alright as well. Try to get one with tv-out and DVI-out; mine has both and most do I think.

gainwards are the red ones.. that's the one i have o/c to 250/550... i got 8880 score on 3dmark2001se with my 1700+ o/c to 1.65ghz. had to go down to 1.628Ghz cuz of some random reboot prob.. wasnt worth it since i had to up the voltage.. and at 148fsb, i can run at default till im blue in the face..

anyways, id recommend a gainward gf3 ti200.. have you considered waiting alittle bit since the geforce4's just came out, im sure prices will start to dip on the gf3's.

i have a leadtek geforce1 ddr that is stable as a rock. good company as well. and i hear they're good at o/c.

I just replaced a GF4 mx440 I got at circuit city and exchanged it with a PNY GF3 Ti200. I paid 199 ( I had store credit) and it came with a 20 buck rebate and a free stick of 128 meg pc133 ram in the box. The ram was Infineon so I think it was a pretty good deal. Not that I need the ram but I figure I could sell it here to offset the cost of the card. :) Anyway, the card works great. I get 4900 in 3dmark200se and on my radeon I would get 2500. And this is on a P3 1ghz chip. I cant wait to see this sucker overclocked on a P4 system. Plus, PNY has, so they say, a lifetime warranty. They claim they can tell if its been OCed but I dont see how. Its a good card overall.

I would stay away from the Ega GF3 Ti200. They had the 3.3ns ram on it and made it look like it was faster but it had alot of problems and didn't even clock as good as alot of slower ram cards that were 4ns or slower.

I have the PNY GF3 Ti200 and am very happy with it. O/Ced to 210/510 stock cooling with out artifact. 7453 3dMark 2001 SE with below system.

Avoid no name cards and anything priced too high. The GF3 Ti200 card has the best bang for your buck as far as I am concerned.:D

gotta agree.. i dont think i could justify paying that much money for a gf3 ti500... ti200 on the otherhand was more in my price range along with gf3 ti500 performance and then some.. :)
