Is there a future generation for this set up ?

I am running an i7 6850K in a 2011 v 3 socket using the x99 chipset (Asus). This is known as an extreme platform but I am wondering if the future for new cpus supported by the platform is bleak to say the least.
Who can see the future ? Is there another generation cpu there ?
Or am I dead ended?

End of the road for your socket, sorry.

Boohoo !
But, OTOH, I'll not want an upgrade for 4-5 years anyway and that's several generations of cpu/chipset/ socket away so missing the next generation means little.
Hey, that's better, eh ?
