I have a FTP server on my computer, and my brother keeps trying to download from it, and he is halfway done a 100Meg file, and the connection gets disconnected. Is there a program Similar to GetRight which works for FTP downloading? Thanks

I think you could just use getright to download from an ftp. I'm not too sure if there's any option to allow download resumes on a ftp though. Have to check on that.

cheers.

First off, you need a ftp server program that allows file resuming.

If you have that, I know leechftp has it. I use it all the time on my dsl. But then again leech is a broadband ftp client.

WS_FTP supports it as well, and you can get the LE version free for home use.

If you can handle command line progs, and know what you are looking for, then check out wget here
It will resume both http and ftp, and does a whole lot more (recursive web suck, http and ftp mirroring, etc). It's Gnu, so it's free.

Another good prog, though ftp-only, is Ncftp (also command line/text mode, but a full on ftp client):ncftp. This does ftp resume as well, and is also GPL'ed (free).

For traditional GUI ftp clients, the best I have seen are Bulletproof FTP and LeapFTP. CuteFTP is decent, too. All of these cost money.

LeechFTP ROCKS! Everything else sucks :p, especially WS_FTP (crappy box that stays on top when you transfer anything)...it's free, too...

Also, Gatsby, why do you say that? I've used it for years on dial-up and never saw anything saying it was for broadband...heck, it was probably out before broadband ;)

umm, the idea behind FTP is that you can resume files. every half decent client would allow resuming. i personally recommend FlashFXP as it can perform all the functions of any other client, plus it can also transfer from server-to-server.

chuckieland, to answer your question, to allow users to resume uploads you have to set the APPEND command. im not familiar with serv-u so i cant tell you exactly where the option is, but im sure you will be able to find it.

i highly recommend that anyone running a server on a windows machine to try G6 FTP. it is very easy to use and very powerful at the same time.
