I am looking for a free software solution equivalent to Faronics Deep Freeze program to install on several home user computers as well as a couple of computers located in a a non-profit setting where random people have access.

Deep Freeze

if anyone has any solutions I would love to hear it....thank you.

edit: Anyone use Microsoft Steady State?

I am very familiar with DeepFreeze. I am a SeniorNet volunteer instructor, and we use D/F in all three of our labs. This allows the students to do everything they need to and a reboot restores things to a "standard" state.

As you say, Microsoft has developed a similar program for Windows called "SteadyState." It looks like a winner and is a free download for Windows users. I have not yet tried it, but an associate in Florida has, and is very pleased with it.
