My wireless extender wn2000rpt keeps dropping connection, wired or wireless, but the main router is fine - i can log into it before the wn2000rpt comes back up.

I want to find out what is causing this. It will work fine for 2 hours then bam, it drops and my gf and I lose connection.

My network is secure. I work at an ISP - and I'm not saying much when I say that but I know the basics. Ive tried hard resetting it. There has never been a firmware upgrade for this. There has to be something wrong with this Netgear extender either in the hardware or software in how it talks to the router.

Id really like to monitor when it drops, so I can check for errors in the log files of both router & extender.

73% connectivity from extender to router and speeds are great when it works, 19x4.5 connection, but when it drops it stops completely for like 2 minutes, then comes back up.

I have also set my extender to obtain a static ip to see if this helps. Anyone have any advice? Ive tried just about everything to get this from stopping. Please network gods if you're listening... help!

Sounds like it's getting too hot or otherwise just rebooting.

Not really much you can do except to replace it.

Honestly, SOHO gear isn't so expensive as to warrant many man hours in trying to figure out why it's not working properly. Just replace it (either through warranty or buy a new piece of equipment) and be on with your life.
