I have DLd one that seems to be kind of what I want, however, it costs about $25.oo so I know sometimes theres free software too so I thought I would come in here and ask...

Or if not what do you use? thanks...Jake

select the parts of the mp3 you don't want, hit delete, and you can save the mp3 without reencoding. With audacity, you must reencode which will give you a reduction in sound quality. For a cell phone, maybe you won't notice that reduction, but really why lose quality if you don't have to?

less filesize...audacity just puts it into 128kbps...which is totally fine for cellphones considering they only have a tiny mono, or stereo (a la iphone) speaker(s).
 
I use a website called MyxerTones. You upload your own songs (so it can be any song you want), then through the site you can upload the whole song OR a section of a song (that you can choose) to your phone. It's really quite a good little site. And free 🙂 !
