As this board is full of video file mux'ing pros, I thought I'd ask about .aa audio files. I have a few books that are in .aa format and I would like to convert them to mp3, but I'm not having any luck finding free software. Is there any out there? I can play them and then record the audio being played but that's slow so I was hoping for something that would strip the drm out.

If not, I'll go with purchased but then which recommendations would you have for that?

Err, I actually tried that - hence the "not having any luck" comment I mentioned. Even tacking on "free", what I've sifted through has all ended up purchased software only.

Google is telling me those files possibly have DRM.

The only completely and truly free option I can find is to re-record them via Audacity and save the MP3 that way.

Yep, Audible.com's DRM. That's all I was able to find so I thought I'd ask the pros here to see if they've used or are aware of anything free. Thanks for checking.

DRM throws a wrench in things, and is a grey area as this site does not cater to people breaking protections of any kind. There does seem to be a popular solution that cost a little money, my guess is alot of people pony up the money because there are no free alternatives.
