Is there a easy way to convert avi files into a DVD?

I'm looking for a way to convert a few avi files into a DVD that can be played on any kind of set-top player. There's a guide on vcdhelp.com but its insanely complicated, I'm thinking there has to be an easier way of converting avi's to a dvd. Any suggestions?
 
tmpgenc - free 30 day trial - google it.


You have to convert the mpg to a dvd ntsc compatibele mpeg - then you have to use authoring software to change the mpeg to a .vob and the .ifo files.

Other than that you have to use TMPGenc to get it into .m2v and .mp2 files, and then use an authoring program to get the burnable files.
 
I have a program that works pretty good for AVI Files, it isn't as sofisticated as the others you will see...I am a video noob so I thought this one worked great

all you do is load the video files, and select some simple format critera PAL vs NTSC

nero ultra does the converting and burn,if i am not mistaken.

nero ultra can be downloaded for a trail period of 30 days,starts and ends on the first and last day of the month. try it

Anything that is shorter will be full of complications. Converting media formats is something that's just not simple and right now there's no way around that.

No it's a Lie!! you caught me, I did not have anything else to do yesterday so I thought I would come here and purposely mislead some poor soul. I have been making DVD's for the family for a couple of years now. I capture the video from my camcorder by firewire and save as .avi I then edit out the boring stuff in studio and add transitions etc. and burn from there or import the individual avi's into MyDVD and add motion menu's, picture slideshows,music etc. And then hit the burn button and thats it, I then slap the dvd into my home player and watch,then burn additional copies to send to out of state family.

Now if you have movies in wmv format that is another story !

Maybe if you worked with this software you would know what it would and would not do.

I use Adobe Encore. It's really good if you plan on doing this alot.

There is also a training for it which you can get from Total Training. They have great training DVD's for Adobe products!
