My official medical advice: Go see a doctor, in person. IMHO, trying to get medical advice online is a waste of time, especially at ATOT.
Plus, you need to be way more specific. Your shoulder hurts. Well, it could be a million things. More detail would be helpful here. I've seen people who say their shoulder hurts, and their shoulder is completely detached from the rest of their body. I've also seen people who say their shoulder hurts and it's a small bump from hitting the wall. What did you do? When did it start? Describe the pain? These are all ???'s that you need to think about before you go see the doc.
Also, just FYI, you really never need a specialist to diagnose most general medical probs. An outpatient doctor will do just fine. The orthopod is going to deal with stuff that is beyond the regular doctor. That means that he/she is probably going to order a lot more tests, imaging, etc., before they tell you whats wrong, even if it's just a simple problem. My roommate is an orthopod and he goes test happy on a regular basis. It's fun to watch him add $$$ to the hospital bill.
Anyway, in summary, go see a doctor, either you primary care MD, or the urgent care doctor. Doesn't sound like an ER thing.
Good luck.
MD.
