Is there a difference between a choice and an alternative?

Yeah, the alternative is a different thing you could've done while a choice is actually choosing that path.

Hey man, either way it is your life and you shouldn't care what everyone else thinks.

It's totally cool if you are gay.

When someone says let's look at the alternatives, what comes to mind is that they've already had their mind set on one of the options. For one reason or another things didn't work out and they go on to look at other options. So it seems that an alternative is a second look at the options at hand. A secondary thought at what was originally presented.

When talking about life and death, it seems like neither is a choice or an alternative because both WILL happen. I didn't choose to be a part of this world. I will die, that is a given so I guess not really an alternative. I guess there's a factor of if I want I can choose how and I when I would like to go. In that sense, is that a choice or alternative? Or both?

Yeah, I'm probably not making much sense.
