Is there a differance between UT and UT Game of the Year Edition

Been playing the oem version that came with my soundblaster for a while now, but i can't upgrade it with a patch. What is the difference and which do you recommend?

I think someone have mention that the only difference is all the patch and maps that comes with the GOTY edition so it saves you on download time and that's all the difference between the 2.

You can upgrade it with the patch but it is a different patch.
