US Robotics Makes Modems.

Sportster is the name of one of the models of modems that US Robotics (now 3com) makes.

Go to the USR 56K modem page and check out their various models. My impression was that the Sportster was one of their external modems, but I may be wrong. The Sportster name goes back to when USR was owned by 3COM.

EDIT:
Their best external modem is/was the Courier V-Everything modem that was excellent, especially with bad phone lines.

They may no longer be using these names, however.
