Last day in January was what I thought the deadline was supposed to be. (I could be wrong). But if she made less than $400 at that job they will not mail one.
Well, the company is local and it's now the 11th........how freaking long does it take to deliver an envelope? I could have walked there and back by now.Originally posted by: mpitts
They have to be postmarked by no later than Jan 31st. When they acutally GET to you is up to the post office. I am waiting on my wife's W2's as well. Damn it.

The law states that it is supposed to be sent by the 31 Jan. However, there are no penalties stated for non-complience that I have found.
Ah...thanks very much. I'll get on the horn with the company once I'm home.Originally posted by: chemos

if you have not received the w-2 by the end of Jan, you contact the employer.
"If you still do not receive your W-2 by Feb.15, contact the IRS for assistance toll free at 1- 800-829-1040. When you call, have the following information handy..."

there are penalties (fines), but they are way lame. $15 for 30 days late, $30 til Aug 1, and $50 after that.
hope this helps.
