I use MSI Afterburner to get the temperature readout on screen of my video card while gaming. Is there a program that does this for CPU temperatures? Thanks in advance.

Try real temp. It'll show cores in taskbar if that's what you want. Pick the hottest one or show all of them.

If your looking for something that'll overlay the screen when full screen gaming don't know if any are out there.

Yeah, I was looking for something that'll overlay on the screen while full screen gaming. Hopefully someone knows of one.

Never heard of one, but you might want to try an app that does temperature logging so you can at elast see what your temps were like aftwerwards. The asus monitoring utility does it and so does the AMD OD. Im sure youll find one for your system.

I've been using core temp and looking at my max temps afterwards. It's been cool lately, a G0 Q6600 at under 60C. However, given the recent high ambient temps, I just wanna be sure it won't go too high while I'm in the middle of a game.

Set a CPU temp alarm in the bios at 60C or whatever you are afraid of exceeding.

You can also set real temp to log temps. It's not real time data, but it will allow you to know if you've exceeded some particular temperature.
