Every time I boot Windows 2000 Pro asks if I would like to renew my password.

You have to modify the Local Security Policy and set the option for password expiration to 0. Don't disable the policy altogether.

Don't know about using cmd, but you can do it this way. Log in with Administrative rights. Right click My Computer, click Manage -> Local Users and Groups -> Users. Click on your user name, and in the general tab, check the password never expires box, click OK and close the console.

Right here in my office I only have XP and it's a great shortcut to those functions that I was never aware of. I hope I can do the same for 2k.
Thanks, Krose.
