Is there a cheap Call of Duty that has current multiplayer?

My dad liked Crysis/Farcry, but has played the whole series.

He wants to try CoD and play some multiplayer optionally.

Is there a cheap version out, he wasn't interested in spending $50 for Ghosts.

His rig is more than powerful enough for almost all games (770GTX, 3930k, 32GB, 512GB SSD)
 
The original cod4: modern warfare is really cheap, usually around $5, and still has an active community. Personal preference it was also the last decent multiplayer one also.
 
I am playing COD MW4 and getting the crashes that plagued it. I did everything but hook up a set of headphones and mic to fix.

My dad hasn't complained yet of similar issues. I am on an AMD platform (955, MA790XT-UD4P, 6870), he is on a modern Intel one (3930k, RIVE, 770GTX).

I just swapped to a 990FXA-UD3 rev 1.0 and haven't tested yet. Hope it helps.

What sort of crashes? I am not familiar with a widespread issue with that game, but I could be wrong. I played a lot with a core 2 duo and low end card, and dont remember any problems.

Hmmm, no problems or crashing for me with the game and i've been playing it since it was released.

I still play COD: MW4 more than any other game. The multiplayer is still very active online. My clan's servers are very active. We host 10 dedicated servers for it and have 60 admins monitoring them for hackers.

I liked Black Ops 2 as well, but the online community is dwindling and getting harder to find games that are filled.
 
The only people playing the older versions are probably going to murder your dad online. It's much more comfortable just dropping the $50 and having a decent online experience.

He's a decent gamer. However; he plays mostly single player anyway.
