Is there a C2D MB that DOESNT have horrible RAM compatibility problems?

Jeez, you know, I really wanted to get a new rig based off the C2D processor, but all the horror stories about hardware incompatability just makes me shudder. I got 1500 bucks to spend, already have a monitor, but unless I can find a good intel solution the has SLI on the motherboard, maybe its just safer to stick with AMD (AM2). CPU is much less important than GPU for gaming anyway.

I just dont know to be honest..

Anyone recommend a good C2D SLI motherboard with RAM that will actually work for it? and keep in mind im not rich.

Thanks

Well, I would just prefer an Nvidia GPU, and for the most part Nvidia just happens to be the top for the GPU market at this time. As to the not going SLI, why wouldnt someone want that as a future upgrade path down the future when you are spending all this money to get a new rig. Not getting SLI is like cutting out one of your best upgrade possibilities.

I didnt plan on buying 2 GPUs at the moment, but when the time comes it would be simpler if I could just plop it in my board rather than getting a new motherboard to go along with it.

What would you get with 1500 bucks, I dont need a monitor so that leaves headroom, except ~100 or so for an XP pro cd outta that.
