Obviously different vodkas taste different. But sometimes the real expensive stuff tastes like shit and sometimes it tastes great. But the best vodka I've tasted so far is this no-name stuff my friend bought for $10 when he was coming back from Russia.

Also, stay away from Crystal Skull vodka. I don't give a fuck what Dan Akroid says, it tastes worse than Skol and is incredibly expensive because of name and bottle. The cooler the bottle, the more expensive!

some rich girls are klepto's though, but let's lump all da hood rats in one bunch.

Very rare to find a klepto rich person, however; the poor will steal anything not bolted down when invited to a nice home.

Everyone has a different reaction to certain things. Personally I don't drink any hard liquor at all.

When I used to, only 100% Grain vodka sat well with me and didn't make me feel like complete shit. It also gave me no hangover (which is rear when it comes to me and alcohol).

Kremlinowskaya was the best vodka I've ever had but I believe they no longer make it (and it's also counterfeited a lot).

My father is a big vodka drinker and swears by this stuff.......

Gery goose, Swedka, Smirnoff are all garbage IMO......never sat well with me, but again, different strokes for different folks.

Yeah... all poor people are awful and thieves.

Also, kleptomania is the compulsion to steal and is not tied to monetary or personal gain. There is a good chance kleptomania is higher among those with money, due to them not having the need to steal.

Completely untrue.

I used to go to a school that had tons of extremely rich kids.

They would tell stories of how they managed to steal 2,000 dollar purses and such.

Also the financial crisis was caused by extremely rich wall street workers who simply wanted more and more and more.

I recall seeing a youtube video a few years ago about this specifically. Couple of college students ran some cheap vodka thru a brita filter 4 times and had some professional blind taste test their filtered cheap vodka and some expensive ones. IIRC the pro couldn't tell the difference.

I've heard of this too. I wonder how many filters you can get before you have to replace it though, those filters can be pretty expensive. Probably still not as expensive as top shelf though.

I'm thinking it's not just the filtration though, higher quality ingredients probably result in a more refined and controlled fermentation.

Ok I bought a bottle of Tito's Vodka today and gave it a try before dinner on the rocks. Compared to all the other it has a distinctive rubbing alcohol finish. Its not strong but noticeable. I will finish it off with mixed drinks but not the flavor profile for Vodka I enjoy. For that price I'd rather have Kettle One.

Saw that one myself, awhile back but never tried it.

For Vodka I always used to like just regular Absolute myself, my wife used to manage a cruise agency and you could always get it duty free for about dirt cheap.

But I usually don't drink it that often myself.

One of my favorites was always Appleton Rum, but I'm usually just a Miller Lite guy myself.

Used to drink a few single malt Scotch's now and then, but not a lot these days.

There is a massive difference between popov and grey goose. The best though is the shit that's 7.99/handle and simply labelled "vodka"

Good vodka has no aftertaste and gives no headache. A $1 bottle of Vodka in Russia is better than anything I've had elsewhere.

You shouldn't need to mix vodka. If you do it's bad. Good vodka is so good that you wouldn't want to mix it.

Run it through a charcoal filter. No difference, no headache.

Exactly. That is what the bottler I worked for did in their production facilities. The more filtered stuff was sold as the premium brand. What you are tasting is the impurities, vodka is pure alcohol diluted with water.

Vodka is supposed to be pure ethanol and pure water, but that is rarely the case. I can't imagine it would be that hard to distill ethanol and distill water, then mix them 60/40 (water/ethanol) and sell it. Apparently though, that IS hard, as nobody does it.

Interesting.

Straight Tito's, occasionally chilled, but usually neat, is our go-to drink at home (wife likes the low calories).

I don't notice the finish you describe. Looks like further research is in order. :sneaky:

A $1 bottle of Vodka in Russia was made in someone's bathtub.

There is nothing inherently special about the Russian Federation that makes shitty vodka taste amazing.

That being said, the Stolichnaya gets replaced most often in my liquor cabinet as far as vodkas. Russian Standard also has a place in there as well.

Good vodka in Russia was dirt cheap. You might have paid for bathtub vodka but I got moonshine for free.
